We awoke to the sound of rain lashing against the windowpanes. The forecast said it was set for the day. Kathy had some work to do so decided to stay behind while the rest of us went out and bagged some castles.
First stop, dunstaffnage in Oban.
The rain was pretty heavy and we all got soaked. Ian has had to raise a complaint about his ‘waterproof’ shoes, although it probably dosen’t count for Scotland in September. Misty had a great time though, running up steps without a care in the world.
Next we headed for Kilchurn on Loch Awe. First we tromped across a bog to a viewpoint over the loch. Then through a field of enormous highland cows to the castle door.

After this, due to hunger (All my fault, and a story involving poppies garden centre, the clematis shop, and Loch Awe Hotel) we decided to go back for a simple pasta and a bath.
Evening highlights included a spectacular show by our bat buddies, a spectacular flypast by some military plane, (which I missed) and a spectacular escape game involving a murder on the orient express, (which went right over my head)

Tomorrow Vicky has to work, and the rest of us are going to have fun!
