Once again we found ourselves waiting on Boris and Nicola before departing for a much needed break. It was all going swimmingly as the country got back to something like normal, then Wham! Rising positive Covid tests saw the reintroduction of measures to control it, but thankfully not a full lockdown like the one we had in March. So, the sickly six found ourselves on the way to a short stay in the Lake District, and a longer one near Oban.
This blog will be A new style, less talk more photos. So enjoy!
Ian, Chris and I set off mid-morning on the Friday, the other three were to join us late due to work. Our first stop was a lovely bistro near Settle for lunch where Misty was made very welcome.
We arrived at The Low Farm, near Ulpha, just before 4pm to find a man tinkering with the hot tub. Ian soon got rid of him and began his own tinkering.

In the log store. (Look for me here if I go missing!)
Once Ian had got the hot tub going, we left it to warm up and set off for the two mile walk to the nearest pub. I had booked a table for four (three plus dog) and we thought a walk would do us all good.

A few noctiluscent clouds as we near civil twilight.
The meal was lovely, and as we exited the pub Nautical twilight had fallen. The moon was bright and in conjunction with Saturn and Jupiter. Back at the ranch the tinkerman stirred the hot tub and we all leapt in. The top bit was lovely and warm, steaming even, but the bottom few inches was still cold. More stirring practice required. Still, with our legs pulled up and heads back we could stargaze to our hearts content.
The little ones didn’t arrive till after midnight and Ian and I are both glad that we waited up. Out in the hot tub garden with no light pollution the stars were absolutely amazing. Not to mention a shooting star zipped across the sky! Wow!!!
Leaving the little ones to wind down with gin, we retired to bed. There aren’t such a lot of stairs for Ian to carry Misty up
Jackie, So glad you’re doing a blog, I like to find out what you are all doing and seeing. I like the version with a white background - it’s more restful. Good idea to concentrate on phots and save yourself loads of typing. Have a good holiday, David.
